The laws ruling the intercities metropolitan areas have led to the creation in January 2002 of the Greater Sophia-Antipolis urban area gathering 16 cities around a Charter of Development. The Casa is presided by the Mayor of Antibes, Jean Leonetti.

The Metropolitan area project : an ambition developed around three main axes« Establish a common identity on a shared project, putting Man in the centre of our preoccupations, helps the consistency of the policies led by the Metropolitan area. » This philosophy is rendered in concrete terms through three main objectives :
- to pursue and renew in quality the attractiveness to ensure a mastered development ;
- to show and reinforce the existing synergy within the Metropolitan area and organize the “country-city” ;
- to firmly establish the part of the Metropolitan area in its context, from National to International level.
