Durant trois jours, du 9 au 11 avril 2026, une délégation de Vernante (ville italienne jumelée à Biot depuis 1995) a visité la cité des Verriers dans le cadre du renforcement des liens d’échange entre villes jumelles.

Ce séjour a été riche en découvertes, avec des visites du patrimoine local, une initiation au savoir-faire verrier ainsi qu’une immersion à l’époque médiévale à l’occasion de la 10e édition de « Biot et les Templiers ». Une cérémonie de réception a également été organisée à la salle Gilardi, en présence de Monsieur le Maire et de représentants des deux villes jumelles. 

Ce voyage convivial et enrichissant en territoire biotois s'inscrivait dans le cadre du projet européenne "Brigde". En octobre 2024, les deux communes ont conjointement répondu à un appel à projets de la Commission européenne visant à promouvoir le patrimoine culturel et artisanal des deux communautés, tout en créant des passerelles entre les générations. Sur les 392 dossiers reçus par la Commission, 13 ont été retenus, dont celui porté par Biot et Vernante.

Pour lancer cette coopération, une délégation biotoise s'était rendue à Vernante, en septembre 2025, afin de découvrir les spécificités culturelles et patrimoniales de la cité italienne.

A Delegation from Vernante Visits Biot for the Templar Festival

For three days, from April 9 to 11, 2026, a delegation from Vernante (the Italian town twinned with Biot since 1995) visited the Town of Glassmakers as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the twin towns.

The visit was filled with discoveries, including tours of local heritage sites, an introduction to the art of glassmaking, and an immersion in the medieval period during the 10th edition of “Biot and the Templars.” A welcoming ceremony was also held in the Gilardi Hall in the presence of the Mayor and representatives of the two twin towns.

This friendly and enriching stay in Biot was organized within the framework of the European project “Bridge.” In October 2024, the two municipalities jointly responded to a European Commission call for proposals aimed at promoting the cultural and artisanal heritage of both communities while building bridges between generations. Out of the 392 applications received by the Commission, only 13 projects were selected, including the one submitted by Biot and Vernante.

To launch this cooperation, a delegation from Biot had travelled to Vernante in September 2025 to discover the cultural and heritage characteristics that make the Italian town unique.
